Sisters of Saint Brigid

The Sisterhood of St. Brigid is a fellowship of Anglican women who seek to love, worship and obey Jesus Christ as Lord. Inspired by the life and ministry of St. Brigid of Ireland, we are committed to the expansion of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church in our generation.

What the Sisterhood Does?

  • We are committed to the historic Christian disciplines of prayer, studio, service and evangelism
  • We meet monthly for fellowship, friendship and "to spur one another on to love and good deeds" --Hebrews 10:24
  • We model Christian servant hood in our families, parish and community.

History of St. Brigid

The story and history of Saint Bridget. The daughter of Dubhthach, a pagan chieftain of Leinster, and Brocca, a Christian Pict who had been baptized by Saint Patrick who inspired her. Bridget grew to be a beautiful daughter and converted to the Christian faith of her mother. She renounced her beauty, and prayed to become ugly, so that she would not attract so many suitors leading to a forced marriage. She insisted on giving all her possessions to the poor and eventually Dubhthach, her father, realized that perhaps her disposition was best suited to the life of a nun. She became the founder of the first community of religious women in Ireland.

O God, Who givest us joy by the power of the intercession of Blessed Brigid the Virgin, graciously grant that we may be assisted by her merits by the example of whose chastity we are enlightened. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
