ABOUT THE ST. PATRICK'S WORSHIP CHOIR
Why the "Worship Choir?" To emphasize our calling and our purpose, which is to lead the congregation in worship.
We believe that God raises up those who aspire to the incredible privilege described in our Worship Choir Ministry Purpose Statement:
"To honor God by preparing and prompting His people in corporate and individual expressions of adoration to our God and Father, our Lord and Redeemer."
The Worship Choir strives to bring musical excellence into the house of God, but more than that, they desire to usher in His presence through passionate worship. They minister weekly in both Sunday morning services and rehearse every Tuesday night, truly helping to transform lives that are at the intersection of faith and life.
Worship! Praise! Magnify!
The Worship Choir helps lead others into a deeper worship life. More than just singing on a Sunday morning, the Worship Choir is built around community and relationships. While no auditions are necessary, we do ask for and expect a strong and faithful level of commitment to this important ministry.
It's important that choir members understand their role as one of ministry rather than performance. They are first and foremost offering up a gift to God, and then (and only then) to the congregation. Their sacrifices of praise must come from a willing and committed heart, if they are to be acceptable worship to the Lord. (Ps. 4:4-5; 51:17).
Choir members must have an attitude of service, striving to give of their best energies and abilities for their God.
They must also see that they are in positions of leadership, with all the conditions, cautions, and blessings which accompany spiritual leadership.
Choir members must understand that, in order to lead effectively lead in worship, they must come prepared spiritually, as well as musically. They must come to their place of service having walked with and worshipped God throughout the week, that they might be ready to invite others to join in corporate expressions of adoration.
The objective of the Worship Choir is to serve as a well-schooled, unified battalion, locking arms to come both humbly and boldly into God's presence, realizing that every word that enthrones Jesus dethrones the Enemy. When it sings, it is not to impress, but to inspire. Its audience is not the congregation, but together with the congregation, their joint audience is God Himself. Its members may be both young and older, but they understand their calling, and they are passionate about fulfilling it!
Other Important Aspects of the Worship Choir's Ministry:
-
The Worship Choir is not primarily about performance; it's primarily about worship.
-
It's not about being slick; it's about passion.
-
It's not about acquaintanceship; it's about family.
-
It's not about momentary emotion; it's about eternal significance.
-
It's not about competition; it's about servanthood.
-
It doesn't view talent as primary; it views character and faithfulness as primary.
